Burlington County Library System
Burlington County Library System, the oldest county library in New Jersey, has a limited number of volunteer positions for adults (18+ who are not college students) for shelf-reading, newspaper indexing, and other small tasks. These positions are at the Main Library on Pioneer Boulevard in Westampton or branches in Bordentown, Cinnaminson, Evesham, Maple Shade, Medford, Pemberton, and Riverton. Contact the Director of Volunteers, Peggy Manser at Headquarters at 609.267.9660 ext 3012 Applicants may be put on a waiting list for open positions. Applications for a limited number of positions for teens and students (13+) are accepted beginning May 1 for the summer session only. Teens and students should contact the Youth Services Department at the library location of their choice (Bordentown, Cinnaminson, Evesham, Maple Shade, Medford, Pemberton, Riverton, or the Main Library in Westampton). Quixote Quest Teen Volunteer Club is a teen volunteer organization where teens volunteer weekly to help disadvantaged children, or children with disabilities, or senior citizens. QQ also has a special mentoring program where teens match up with a child from the cities of Camden and Trenton (transportation provided) to inspire them to achieve more. Pedals for Progress provide basic transportation to the poorest people of the developing world with the Mid-Atlantic region’s surplus bikes. Bicycle Collection Managers and Helpers (14+) - Schedule: 3-5 hours on Saturday or Sunday through spring and fall (April and May, September and October) Task: Work with volunteer groups and Pedals for Progress staff conducting scheduled one-day bike collections. Large numbers Warehouse Manager Schedule: Saturdays in spring and fall. Occasional weekdays throughout the year at your convenience. Caring Hospice Services of South Jersey
Caring Hospice Services of South Jersey, provides hospice services for a 6-county region including Burlington. Caring Hospice is a unique, holistic and cost effective service designed to meet the social, emotional, spiritual and physical needs of their patients and families as they face terminal illness. Volunteers with a variety of skills and talents are needed to provide friendly visits to patients in nursing facilities and/or private homes. Opportunities are available for volunteers to share musical talents such as singing and/or playing an instrument, provide Pet Therapy, Reiki and Massage. Volunteer licensed Cosmetologists offer haircuts and/or manicures, and Veterans share their stories and provide recognition to Veteran patients. Volunteers also provide administrative support in our Mount Laurel Office There are virtual opportunities for individuals and groups to make items such as blankets, pillows, greeting cards, and keepsake Memory Bears. In keeping with Medicare requirements, background and medical checks are part of the training process. All volunteers receive end-of-life training and continued support.
