Volunteer Shopkeepers/Greeters Needed for the Whitesbog Historic General Store!

Volunteer Shopkeepers/Greeters Needed for the Whitesbog Historic General Store!

We are in need of helpers for the Fall and Holiday season, part-time and fill-in help is essential to keeping this village asset available for visitors to the Village, to pick up brochures, learn about the village, shop local goods, attend talks and programs and listen to local music!

The General Store is the starting point for most visitors to Whitesbog Historic Village. Hand-crafted items and books on Pine Barrens history and folklore are some of the items sold in a down-home, country store atmosphere reminiscent of the 1920s. The store is open on weekends, 10 AM-4 PM, year-round. More days and times can be added if volunteers are available on a regular basis.

Store sales go towards supporting Whitesbog Preservation Trust's (WPT) efforts to preserve and restore Whitesbog Historic Village, birthplace of the cultivated blueberry and a key piece of New Jersey's agricultural heritage. Funds raised support programs for the public, museum exhibits, field trips, tours and family events including Living History Days, Spooky Tours, Wagon Rides, Tractor shows, Maker's Day and more.

Whitesbog Preservation Trust is seeking volunteer sales associates.

Volunteer shopkeepers will:

Greet guests
Process sales
Share information about the Village and WPT, including upcoming programs
Other responsibilities as needed
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY - training is provided.
There are two weekend days: Saturday and Sunday, 10 AM - 4 PM.
Shopkeepers should arrive a little before 10 am to set up and plan to stay until a bit after 4 to close up.

Families, friends and couples are welcome to work together and individuals who enjoy talking with the public are great!
Whitesbog visitors include diverse travelers such as hikers, walking groups, horse-back riders, visitors from out of state, people touring the Pine Barrens, local residents, school children, homeschoolers, people interested in the history of the village, explorers, families and seniors.

On occasion we have an evening event or special tour where visitors want to shop in the store as well, and we send out emails to shopkeepers to see if any are available.

A minimum commitment of one day per month is desired, but not required.

Interested? Call (609) 893-4646 or email WhitesbogPreservationTrust@gmail.com for more details.
