  • Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey - Volunteer Opportunities in Burlington County Region

    Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey – Burlington County Region

    Coordinator of gift drives, looking for someone to manage one drive or several: backpacks, Christmas gifts, Easter dinners, Thanksgiving dinners, food drives and book drives.

    Lutheran Crossings an assisted living and nursing facility is looking for volunteers to serve at our 255 E. Main Street Moorestown campus. Volunteer activates include:  friendly visitors, transporting residents by wheelchair to activities, assist in leading crafts, games, discussion groups, and sing-a-longs. Additional volunteers are needed for the Auxiliary of Lutheran Crossing which actively fundraises. Hospice volunteers are needed to visit and read to residents.   • Virtua Memorial Hospital

    Virtua Memorial Hospital seeks volunteers to work in several areas of the hospital and Auxiliary Thrift Shop located at 798 Woodlane Rd., Westampton, NJ 08060.  Shop hours Mon.- Thurs. 10am to 5pm, Fri. - 10am to 2pm and Sat 10am to 3pm.   • It Takes A Village

    It Takes A Village is a caring, all volunteer organization dedicated to helping seniors, disabled of any age and returning vets in the following ways :Shop for groceries ( with or without the client, run errands, visit clients, call and just chat, drive clients to doctors and rehab (when planned ahead ), read to the visually impaired. The areas we cover presently, in Burlington County are : Cinnaminson, Delran, Hainesport, Maple Shade, Moorestown, Mount Laurel . There are no charges for our services but we do ask, if possible for a $ 20 donation ( tax deductible ) once a YEAR ! (to help cover our insurance costs) We are an interfaith community! Our list of needy clients is growing and we need men and women to help these neighbors! All our volunteers attend a one hour training given once a month.   • Rancocas Nature Center

    Rancocas Nature Center, 794 Rancocas Road (Exit 45A off Rt. 295) Westampton, NJ needs volunteers for help with various activities at the Center. Some of these include gardening (weeding, planting, watering), working in our gift shop (greeting visitors, answering the phone, taking down program registrations, making sales), caring for our animals (feeding animals, cleaning tanks), creating brochures and program fliers, as well as speakers with expertise on various nature related topics. Volunteers are also needed to conduct or assist with important research projects.   • National Society of Colonial Dames of America (NSCDA-NJ)

    The National Society of Colonial Dames of America in the State of New Jersey (NSCDA-NJ) operates two museums: Peachfield, a restored farmhouse in Westampton, and an old schoolhouse in Mount Holly.  Volunteers conduct seasonal tours at Peachfield and at the schoolhouse by appointment.  Volunteers are invited to participate in elementary school living history programs utilizing both sites.  Call 609-267-6996.   • Moorestown Community Olympic Development Program

    Moorestown Community Olympic Development Program, a non-profit partnership between the US Olympic Committee, Moorestown Township, and the Moorestown Weightlifting Club offering facilities, coaching, and other services to Olympic aspirants.   The MCODP is located in the Moorestown Township Recreation Center, and makes training facilities and coaching expertise available to athletes of all ages, and also subsidizes travel and living expenses for elite athletes who are vying for positions on USA Weightlifting’s international teams.  In the past several years, MCODP athletes have represented the USA in World Championships, Pan Am Championships, Junior World Championships, Collegiate World Championships, Masters World Championships, School-age Pan Am Championships, and Masters Pan Am Championships.  Volunteers (18 yrs. and older) will help maintain the facility.   • Habitat for Humanity of Burlington County and Greater Trenton-Princeton

     

    Habitat for Humanity Burlington County and Greater Trenton-Princeton is calling for volunteers with a variety of skills and proficiencies to help to finish constructing our current homes and assist in our ReStore located in Maple Shade. Volunteers must be at least 16 for the construction site (adult supervision required if under 18) and 15 for the ReStore (adult supervision required if under 16). No experience necessary.   • New Jersey Orators, Inc.

    New Jersey Orators, Inc. (www.oratorsinc.orgis a 35-year old non-profit youth organization serving annually over 250 youth in eight counties throughout New Jersey, including chapters in Burlington County. Its mission is to teach the art of public speaking, an appreciation for literature, reading and media arts literacy, civic engagement, college readiness, and life skills to youth from 7 to 18 years of age in preparation for college. We host four statewide competitions during the school calendar year to provide an opportunity for our students to develop and hone their public speaking and oratorical skills in a safe, friendly environment. We also a fall and spring Beyond High School Educational Conferences for middle and high school students with College Readiness Workshops and another focusing on Civic Engagement Workshops.  

    New Jersey Orators needs volunteers at our local Burlington County Chapter as coaches and educational administrators as well as at our four statewide competitions as Judges and Competition Assistants in the Tally Room to assist with validating Judges’ scores and entering data into our computer database. We are also seeking volunteers to be board members for our organization as a whole.
