National Public Lands Day volunteer project

at Bass River State Forest

Bass River Twp., NJ – Bass River State Forest is celebrating the 25th annual National Public Lands Day, September 22, 2018 by hosting a volunteer project from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m

We’ll be focusing on our Ballanger Creek Habitat Enhancement Site where we will be spreading chips on the trail, trimming trails, planting native milkweed and repairing the entrance driveway. This part of the forest is also within the Jacques Cousteau National Estuarine Research Reserve...

Bring gloves and insect repellent; snacks and tools provided. Meet at the Forest Office at 762 Stage Road to check in and caravan to the site. Heavy rain or thunder cancels.

National Public Lands Day, a program of the National Environmental Education Foundation, is a great opportunity for people al all ages to get outside, work alongside their neighbors, and help to improve their community and environment. This is a great opportunity for students and scouts who need “community service” hours.

To register or for more information contact the Bass River State Forest office at (609) 296-1114. NJ State Park Service Calendar of Events is at www.njparksandforests.org. To see a list of NPLD sites, activities, contacts and downloadable photos from past events visit www.publiclandsday.org.
