Girls on the Run


Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. Girls on the Run: Requirements/Duties of a Coach: This program meets in the afternoons and/or a Saturday morning for 1 hour and 15 minutes on a bi-weekly basis for 10 weeks early Sept to mid-Nov. Coaches lead small, closed groups of girls (ages 8-10) through easy-to-use curriculum. Supervise and participate in workouts/games that teach life skills. Willingness to serve as contact for parents of girls in small group. Attend end-of-season 5K event. All coaches required to attend a 4-hour training on a Saturday in August. Must be 21 years old. Requirements/Duties of an Assistant Coach: Provide administrative support to coaches. Encourage girls during structured games/workouts.
