Connect to Mentoring

Connect to Mentoring provides young adults in foster care with a mentor to provide a listening ear, helpful words and an open heart. Our mentors assist our mentees with finding hope inside themselves and by being a constant force in their ever changing lives. We are in high hopes to connect with individuals who: +have relevant skills/experience working with youth and/or a willingness to make a positive impact and can reflect positive behaviors. +can successfully complete a criminal background check, references check, interview and training class held by the mentor coordinator.+ have a valid driver's license, registration, acceptable driving record and a reliable means of transportation. +are willing to make a 1 year commitment to their mentee, meeting with their mentee twice a month for a minimum of 2 hours per meeting. +can update our mentor tracking system online to keep the mentor coordinator updated on the activities and any concerns that may arise during the meetings. Our mentors have supportive access from the mentor coordinator who is available via phone for all of our mentors. Our mentor coordinator has experience as a caseworker for the State of NJ and can address many concerns that may arise as well as provide advice to strengthen the mentor/mentee relationship. Our mentors receive a monthly newsletter full of resources, activities and helpful tools to utilize and optimize their time with their mentee and to make the relationship as effortless as possible.
