About Us

Volunteer Center of Burlington County – Founded in 1996

  • A private, nonprofit 501 (c) (3) charitable organization that provides and promotes volunteer opportunities, programs and services to meet community needs.
  •  Is dedicated to helping individuals and groups find volunteer work that is most suitable to their interests, skills, abilities, location, schedule and age.
  • Offers volunteer recruitment and support in a number of areas including; youth, workplace and interfaith programs.
  • Annually presents the Lloyd Ritter Community Service Award in recognition of outstanding community service on behalf of the residents of Burlington County.
  • Publishes three directories Volunteer Opportunities Directory, Youth Volunteer Opportunities Directory, and Court-Ordered Community Service Opportunities Burlington County residents; and provides Burlington County volunteer opportunities listing for the Burlington County Times and Courier Post newspapers.
  • Maintains a web site www.volunteercenterburlingtoncounty.org , Publishes a bi-weekly e-newsletter., and posts on Facebook and Twitter   
  • Travels throughout Burlington County giving presentations to student and adult groups; and hosting information tables at libraries, businesses, schools and festivals.
  • Youth Service Initiative which sponsors the Annual Youth Service-Mini-Conference and the Annual Youth Service Conference & Expo for high school student leaders and faculty advisors; and interacts with high school and middle school students and advisors throughout the year.
  • Annually holds Martin Luther King Day Challenge to encourage Burlington County residents of all ages to make MLK Day  a day of service - “ a day on – not a day off”.
  • Member of Burlington County Community Organizations Active in Disasters (BUCOAD)
  • Annually presents the Joe Laufer College Scholarship to graduating seniors, residing in Burlington County and graduating from a Burlington County High School demonstrating a commitment to community service, leadership and academic achievement.
  • Serves the residents of Burlington County through the support and assistance of  Burlington County Freeholders Office, Rowan College at Burlington CountyBurlington County Health Department, Burlington County Office of Human Services, Burlington County Library System, Burlington County Parks Department, Burlington County College Office of Student Activities, Burlington County Health Department, Burlington County College Student Government Association, Burlington County Superintendent of  Schools, United Way of Burlington County, Points of Light Institute/Hands On Network
